Throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s, the barbering trade flourished in the prestigious Rook's District of London. Before giving way to bars and brothels, and eventually closing it's last barbershop's doors in 1939, the Rook's District was accepted by The Royal Barbers Union of England as the most significant place in the establishment and advancement of the barber profession.
